the other vehicle, 43 year-old were pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigation into the cause of the accident continues. |

interior search and rescue, and while in progress; the floor

which occurred less than five miles from downtown Detroit in a

cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated and transported to the hospital.
He went into cardiac arrest a second time while in route to the

became disoriented and separated from the officer, activating his
Mayday distress alarm and signaling Mayday over the radio.
The severity of the fire quickly worsened, weather conditions were
extremely windy. With rapid fire progress and a partial collapse of
the structure, other firefighters were unable to rescue him he
passed away on scene from injuries. |

While en route, based on additional information, the incident was
upgraded to a structure response. The on-scene report
indicated that two people were inside. Four engines, including
three from Contra Costa County Fire District and one from Richmond
Fire Department responded. Engine 70's crew, after finding and
assisting in one rescue, continued searching for a second victim.
During this rescue effort they became trapped. Despite valiant
rescue efforts, two firefighters, were overcome by rapid fire
progress.
The occupants of the residence also perished as a result of the
fire. |

apparatus then rolled and slid into a tree, the final resting
position.
The tree tore the roof off of the cab of the apparatus. He was
wearing safety seat restraints at the time of the incident but
passed away from his injuries. The Fire Marshal's Office indicated
the incident remains under investigation. |

They were fatally injured while battling a
seven-alarm high-rise fire at the former Deutsche Bank building at
130 Liberty Street in lower Manhattan.
The two firefighters became trapped in maze-like conditions on the
14th floor of the building, which is undergoing demolition. They
suffered severe smoke inhalation and were taken to NY Downtown
Hospital in cardiac arrest where they succumbed to their injuries. |

| He had spent several hours working to rescue a
victim who had fallen down a ravine and broke a leg. After placing
the individual into the ambulance and reportedly shortly after
midnight, he and others returned to the bottom of the ravine to
retrieve ropes and other equipment where he was not feeling well,
indicated that he needed a drink of water. Before a drink could be
provided, he had passed away from an apparent heart attack. |

| He was responding to a cardiac distress call when he
lost control of his private vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway,
but he corrected it back on to the road, striking another vehicle.
His vehicle then traveled off of the roadway again, where it rolled
and burst into flames at its final resting position. He passed away
from carbon monoxide inhalation and thermal injuries. He was wearing
his seat belt. Both occupants in the second vehicle involved in the
incident were transported to the hospital, but were listed in good
condition the following day. |

| Both passed away from injuries received while inside
of a working structure fire. They along with other
firefighters, were working a hose line inside of a restaurant. Heavy
smoke conditions caused the firefighters to become disoriented. A
large air conditioning unit then fell through the roof of the
restaurant initiating rapid fire progress. Multiple
firefighters were trapped and injured. After being rescued, reports
indicate that eight firefighters were treated and released from the
hospital; two firefighters remain hospitalized being treated for
smoke inhalation. |

pole and tree, coming to a final resting position upside down.
he was reported to have not been wearing a safety belt, passed
away from injuries after being ejected from his vehicle. Safe
traveling speed per road conditions (wet) may have been a factor in
the accident, which remains under investigation. |

accident in his privately owned vehicle with other members of his
department. When the department cleared the scene, he and one other
firefighter exchanged vehicles to return to the station. While
returning, he lost control of the motorcycle he was operating, which

| He was notified by someone knocking at the door of
his residence that there was a fire in a nearby structure, a bar
formerly owned by Bailey's father called "Engine No 2" located at

investigating officials, he collapsed from an apparent heart attack
after confirming that there was a working fire in the structure. He
was transported to Jefferson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators indicated that the structure was abandoned with no
utilities and had a history of recent break-ins. They believe the
fire was intentionally set. |

| A tractor trailer rig took a wrong turn and had to
turn around because a bridge was closed for construction. When
turning around, the rig struck a utility pole causing a live wire to
fall and spark a grass fire near houses. While battling the
wind-whipped grass fire, he came in contact with the live wire and
was severely shocked. He was taken by air ambulance in
critical condition to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St Francis
Campus where he passed away within an hour. |

He passed away from injuries received while working
at a residential structure fire. The fire, in a detached garage, was
largely extinguished and firefighters were working to put out hot
spots when the garage doors and a support beam collapsed on three of
them. Firefighters and law enforcement personnel at the scene worked
to free the three trapped firefighters, and afterwards, they were
transported to the hospital.
Two of the three injured firefighters were treated for burns and
released from the hospital. Two police officers also suffered minor
injuries. He suffered severe injuries, his condition worsened
over the following days, and on 09/29/2007 he passed away. The fire
began when the homeowner was fixing a motorcycle and fuel spilled
onto a burning citronella candle. |
