MCFTOA Members Present:
Motion was made by Brown, 2nd by Trenner to waive approval of the minutes until they are posted on the website. Motion Passed.
Current Balance is $34,101.06. Five checks were issued last month.
§ Inquires are being received regarding the 2006 Wildland Fire School. These are being forwarded to Miles Schuler (IC). § Incident Debriefing presentation will possibly be scheduled for next month.
i. ICS 300/400 will be presented in October. Another Class is tentatively schedule for winter. (January). ii. Operations Section Chief or Safety Officer may be scheduled for Winter/Spring. Chief Hawkins has stated that he is available to present these classes. iii. Strike Team Leader will be offered during the month of February or March.
i. All members are now current on the yearly dues. ii. New EMS 24/7 has been checked into the library and are available for use
i. Highway Safety: The Law Enforcement folks are reviewing the Highway Safety Information. OTS grant may be purchasing Safety kits for participating departments.
i. Parker Flats burn is scheduled for the end September. Outside agencies wishing to participate should contact Chief Kelly with Marina Department of Public Safety.
i. Secretarial Services: Motioned by Brown, 2nd by Rodda to hire Katherine Peruet from Seaside Fire as the Treasurer. Motion Passed. ii. Recognition for Polly as serving in the Training Officers Treasurer for many years. President Lindsey will handle this detail. iii. EMS Liaison Report- Carmel, Marina, Cachagua are to receive funds to replace AED’s, committee will be working with Chief Reade on new triage tags and additional training, Westmed will give a presentation at the County Ag Building, 1428 Abbott Street on the 14th September 1030-1200.

Ryan Walbrun from the National Weather Service located at the Monterey
Airport provided the group with his contact information for Incident Weather
Services. He also expressed interest in assisting with prescribed burns,
emergency incidents and the Wildland Fire School. His contact information is as
follows: ii. Doug Kramer from LN Curtis has offered up some training regarding extrication and thermal imaging cameras. The extrication will be in conjunction with the OTS grants. He stated that Bullard would be available to provide a county wide class on thermal imaging. VII. Good of the Order: i. Motioned by Brown, 2nd by Gearhart to nominate David Sargenti as the Secretary replacing Secretary Urquides. Motion Passed. ii. David Sargenti presented an educational opportunity to the group from the Fire Districts Association of California. This would be a free class that would be run through MPC to accommodate the logistical needs of the presentation. This is a joint venture with the Fire Districts of Santa Cruz County to bring the workshop regarding fire district planning, regulations and issues. Sargenti will proceed with the programs form to formalize this class.
