The IC will be sending a letter to the local CDF Unit Chief and the Area Fire Coordinator about the 2006 Wildland Fire School. In addition, Range Control at FHL needs a letter requesting the entire campground for the duration of the WFS. FHL would like to allow hunting for the weekend but has indicated that the campground can be dedicated to the WFS. Cost of the campground in the past has been $600.
Patrick Reid was introduced has the new Fire Chief for the Fort Hunter Liggett Fire Department.
First site visit planned for April 27, 2006. Meet at Salinas Rural FPD Station #2 (Chualar) at 0800 hours.
Final site visit planned for May 18, 2006. As with the first site visit, meet at the SRFPD Station #2 (Chualar) at 0800 hours.
All positional assignments should be filled by the next meeting on April 13, 2006. The goal is to stay within Monterey County for overhead assignments and then reach out beyond the County if there is still a need for additional personnel.
Fort Hunter Liggett FD may be able to provide overhead personnel as needed. FHL Fire would also like to use engines from the school to assist with their burning operations during the same weekend of the school.

Per FHL FD, on the day of the first site visit, would like to set up a meeting with FHL Police, Campground, Range Control, and archeology division.

FHL Fire has additional area in Branch 1 across the road that they would like to be a part of Branch 1.
Need to develop new branch numbers since some of the boundaries have changed over the years. Branch 8 will become Branch 7.
Application/Registration packets will be available very soon.

II. PLANS:

A plans trailer with personnel will be available for the school. Need to finalize the check-in process and the organizational chart. Per Marvin Howard of California OES, OES and statewide overhead personnel would be available to assist if needed. OES support trailer #4 will be coming to the school.

III. LOGISTICS:

Per J. Trenner, Chief George Haines will be the agency representative for CDF. As of now, we are planning on having Toro Petroleum as our fuel provider. Fueling area behind Range Control. Per FHL Fire, we may be able to obtain fuel at the base fueling station. There would need to be a designated time for fueling and a person would need to be stationed on the site to maintain a fuel log and to keep the pumps secure.
FHL Fire will be able to provide all the drip torch fuel we need. They have an abundant supply of this resource.
