Monterey Peninsula College I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Review of the meeting minutes of January 11, 2007 as presented by President David Sargenti. Motion by Stewart Roth, was made to amend the minutes to include changes to the dates of the Safety Officer class from April 8th and 9th to April 3rd,4th and 5th. The Motion was second by Doug McCoun to accept the amendment. Motion carried. II. TREASURER’S REPORT: The monthly treasurer’s report was presented by President David Sargenti. Motion carried to receive and file the Treasurer’s Reports. III. CORRESPONDENCE / ANNOUNCEMENTS: None IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS: A. ICS Committee: 1. Stewart Roth introduced Andrew Lynch, of Target Safety, who presented an online Fire and EMS training website that would assist with unified training and training record keeping throughout the county or for individual agencies. 2. Safety Officer Class – Stewart Roth reported that the All-Risk Safety Officer class is scheduled for April 3rd, 4th and 5th with a student registration fee of $350 - $400. The class size could be up to 60 students at the Seaside Highlands Community Center. Fliers will be sent out in mid February. Class to be run through www.firenuggets.com. 3. Strike Team Leader / Division Group Supervisor Class - Being research by John Trenner (not present). He will be contacted by Dave Cruz for further information to be presented at the next meeting. 4. Incident Management Team - Joe Pastore reported that the IMT is waiting for County Chiefs approval B. Wildland Committee: President David Sargenti reported that the Wildland committee met February 8, 2007. The overhead positions have been filled. Trainee positions are available. More information is being sent via e-mail. C. Fire Library:
President David Sargenti reported that MPC is trying to find a way to make the entire Fire Library available online through the Monterey Peninsula College website. D. Website:
President David Sargenti reported that the
MCFTOA had three options to connect the website to the County
Chiefs website; 1. Add a link to the Monterey County Chiefs website and continue to have a website of their own. 2. Move the MCFTOA website to become a "Tab" on the already existing Monterey County Fire Chiefs website.
3. Stay as is. Dan Gearhart reported that the Monterey County Fire Investigators are adding a "Tab" to the County Chiefs website and he would do he same for the MCFTOA website E. Programs: Fire Control V - Stewart Roth reported that there is still space available for both classes. The dates are February 20, 21 & 22 at the Monterey Airport and February 23, 24 & 25 in Salinas. Highway Safety - Dan Gearhart reported that the Police Chiefs have agreed on the terminology of the Highway Safety document with one exception, they do not want the term "Public Safety" to be used in the document. The Police Chiefs also would not sign the document so they don't make a policy on the Law Enforcement side. Auto Extrication - Joe Pastore reported that he has been in contact with Scene Of The Accident, Inc. regarding a Train-The-Trainer Hands-On Extrication course tentatively set for April 18th - 20th 2007, at Sherwood Garden in Salinas. Given the nature of the course, the class is expected to have a large turnout including students from outside of the U.S. Joe Pastore is looking for ideas for lodging and transportation as many students would need these services. Per the instructor, prices for lodging would need to be no more than $110. More information to come. F. State Fire Academy: Natalie Rodda reported that they have moved location, and during the process, have had problems with their telephone lines. Natalie requested that personnel attempting to contact the State Fire Academy leave a message and she will call them back as soon as they receive the message. V. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Movement Drills: Tabled until the next meeting. 2. Membership in the Association - Secretary Dan Gearhart reported that there are 26 paid memberships for the 2007 MCFTOA. 3. Purchase of New Laptop Computer and Projector: Tabled until the next meeting. 4. Wellness and Fitness Program: Tabled until the next meeting 5. Goals for 2007: Tabled until the next meeting. VI. NEW BUSINESS: 1. None VII. GOOD OF THE ORDER: 1. Secretary Dan Gearhart reported that the Rescue 42 rep would be at Seaside Fire, for a class about vehicle stabilization, on February 9, 2007 and March 30, 2007. There is an open invitation for those interested. 2. Brad Hinkley reported that he is looking for the "Foam Applications video that is missing from the Fire Library. 3. Michael Hewston reported that the Rescue 42 rep would also be at Fort Hunter Liggett Fire on March 17th. 4. Joe Pastore reported that AFG's will be coming out soon. 5. Natalie Rodda reported that she is working with Monterey County Health to develop an interagency 5150 class. VIII.
