MEETING MINUTES OF December 12, 2002

Meeting called to order at 10:30 by President Brown

  1. Approval of Minutes:
  2. Motion for approval of November , 2002 minutes by S. Roth. Second by M. Urquides. Motion passed.

  3. Treasury Report:
  4. Beginning balance - $ 24,343.00

    Inflows - 1,127.00

    Outflows - -2,264.27

    Current balance of - $ 23,205.73

    Motion to approve by J. Trenner. Second by M. Urquides, motion passed.

  7. Committee Reports:
    1. ICS:

ICS 300/400 will be run February 3-7, 2003 at the CDF Monterey Headquarters Expanded ECC room at 2221 Garden Road. The class will be run through MPC. Contact Chief Matteson at 333-2600 or Phil.Matteson@fire.ca.gov .

Operations SC-All risk & Safety Officer classes will be taught by Chief Hawkins. J. Trenner will report next month on dates.

    1. Wildland:

Chief Glass reported that the school will be scheduled for the usual date of the first week of June. The Wildland committee meetings will start in February before the regular training officer’s meeting.

C. Fire Library:

M. Urquides purchased the "Car Busters" series. The fire library will renumber it and the old series will be purged. Urquides will seek approval from fire library to store old versions of the UFC so they can be used for reference.

D. Programs:

                    S. Roth is still checking on getting Chief Brunacini in April.

    1. Haz Mat:

    3. High-Rise:

The Monterey County Chief’s movement drill last week went well. The critique will be coming out soon.

G. EMS:

EMS is moving forward with the combi-tube. It will be voluntary for each department but only be used by EMTs. For those departments with medics, train-the-trainer will be offered by EMS to train EMTs in-house.

    1. Training and Standards:
    2. Fireground Safety System has been reviewed and revised by the committee appointed out of the MCFTO’s. It will be sent to the County Ops then County Chiefs for approval and adoption.

    3. Web Site:

J. Charity Golf Tournament:

Tournament set for April 24, 2003. Rancho Canada – East Course is booked. The tournament will be a shotgun start at 1100 hrs. All proceeds will go to the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center - Burn Center.

  2. Drop bags are available at Mid-Valley Fire Station. Contact Ron Lemos for more info at 624-5907 or rlemos@carmelvalleyfire.com

  3. New Business:
  4. RIC is now an accredited class at MPC. S. Roth suggested that if the MCFTOs pay the last class registration, MPC will reimburse at the rate of $2 per student per contact hour. J. Trenner made a motion to approve payment. D. Brown second, all approve, motion carried.

  5. Good of the Order:
  6. Monterey County Chief’s dinner will be held January 11 at the Pacific Grove Community Center. Social hour starts at 6:00 p.m., dinner at 7:00 p.m. Cost is $25. Contact Leslie Fenton at Carmel Fire for more info…620-2030. The swearing in of the officers will take place at this meeting…President – Stew Roth; Vice-Pres. – Catey Trenner; Secretary – Jesse Casillas.

  7. Adjournment:

Meeting adjourned at 11:10 hrs. A delicious lunch after the meeting was at Sapporo’s to conclude the newly agreed upon…December lunch meeting.
