MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 11, 2001

SALINAS RURAL – TORO STATION

 

Call to Order: President Harald Kelly called the meeting to order. Meeting started at 1030 hr.

    President Kelly introduced Timothy Johnson from Ord Military Community Fire Department (The Old Fort Ord Fire Department) Tim is a Prevention Specialist – Training Officer

  3. Approval of Minutes:
  4. Motion for September 13 2001 Minutes. Second by John Trenner Motion passed.

  5. Treasury Report:
  6. Beginning Balance (9/01/01) of $31,853.54

    Total Inflows: 9,038.14

    Total Outflows: -8,172.00

    Ending Balance (09/30/00) of $32,719.68

    Motion made by President Kelly to approve treasury report. Seconded by David Brown. Motion passed.

  7. Correspondence/Announcements:
  8. Jack Riso, new Fire Chief at OMCFD… Congrats Jack! Seaside Fire Department has a new Fire Chief – Jerry Wolmacker, from Monterey Park FD

     

  9. Committee Reports:
    1. ICS:

Marina DPS will be holding an ICS 200 Class taught by D/C Shuler from Carmel Valley Fire Department and B/C John Trenner from Carmel Fire Department. For more info, call President Kelly at 884-1210. hkelley@ci.marina.ca.us

John Trenner is looking into an ICS Safety Officer Program for the TO’s.

    1. Wildland:

Phil Matteson discussed S190, S290 and S234 for possible upcoming classes. He will becoming back with more information.

                            C. Fire Library:

                            Henry Rameriz is having a videotape repaired and has placed 2 more videos in the inventory
                            A discussion of a workday to clean-up and inventory out old stuff. More to follow.

D. Programs:

President Kelly presented information on the elevator rescue class. He will be coordinating with Stewart Roth for location and logistics. Dates to be early April.

President Kelly presented information on a propane fire fighting class. More research about costs and certifications. President Kelly to get with Stewart to work on. More to Follow.

    1. Haz Mat:
    2. Upcoming CHOMP drill was discussed by Stewart Roth who is coordinating fire response. For more info call Stewart at 646-3900 or email at roth@ci.monterey.ca.us

      Discussed up coming Terrorism Training. It is in-service training, and other departments are invited to attend. For more info call Stewart at 646-3900 or email at roth@ci.monterey.ca.us

       

    3. High-Rise:

Stewart Roth now coordinates High-Rise. Putting together upcoming classes and Drill.

G. EMS:

David Brown informed the group that there would be a new representative from EMS.

Stewart Roth announced that the web page changes have been completed for this month, check’em out. D/C Mike Ventimiglia has been doing an outstanding job… Thanks Mike! The webpage address is www.mcftoa.org

  1. Old Business:
  2. Stewart Roth made a presentation to the Training Officers with a recommendation on the issue of the Rope Drop Bags. Vice-President Brown made a motion to bring the presentation and recommendation forward to the County Chiefs – OPS Committee for presentation. Additionally, he requested that D/C Ron Lemos of Carmel Valley Fire bring the other bags for discussion.

    Seconded by Trenner. Approved 9 Yes 0 No

    Stewart Roth made a motion to up the cost of the Rapid Intervention Class to $40.00. Second by David Brown. Approved 9 Yes 0 No

    John Trenner discussed the upcoming golf tournament for the FDNY Relief scheduled for November 16, 2001. An event not to be missed! For more information contact JT or Chief C. Trenner (John said it) at 625-0541 or email at jctrenner@aol.com

    President Kelly made a motion to set an initial $1000.00 spending fund for the tournament. Seconded by Tim. Approved 9 yes, 0 No

  3. New Business:

Vice-President Brown was inquiring about the various items as they relate to departments.

    1. What kind of SCBAs does your department use? Including High Pressure and Low Pressure
    2. What type of Incident Reporting System do you use?

Vice-President Brown shared with us the concept of having the Training Officers begin exploring a stronger relationship with MPC and the California Fire Academy to enhance training in the Monterey County Area.

A motion was made by John Trenner to have Natalie come and make a presentation. Seconded by Stewart Roth. Approved 9 Yes 0 No

  2. President Kelly said the service for fallen fire fighters was well attended and thanked all that participated.

    Stewart Roth shared the great news that their new portable air compressor was in and working great. It is available for mutual aid requests….FREE.

  3. Adjournment:

Motion was made by Vice-President Brown to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by John Trenner. seconded. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 1200 hrs. Next meeting will be a dinner meeting at 1830 hr. hosted by the Marina Department of Public Safety on 8 November 2001.
