Meeting called to order at 10:35 by Vice-President Roth

  1. Approval of Minutes:
  2. Motion for approval of September 12, 2002 minutes by M. Urquides. Second by C. Handle. Motion passed.

  5. Correspondence/Announcements:
  6. Extensive discussion about the recent Move up & Cover drill held at Northridge Mall in Salinas. Being addressed at the Chief’s level.

  7. Committee Reports:
    1. ICS:

I-300/400 is tentatively being set for the week of December 9 – 13, 2002. For details please contact John Trenner at Carmel Fire – 620-2030.

    1. Wildland:

T-shirts and hats are still available. They were printed without dates on them so they can be used next year. J. Trenner reported that the MCFTO’s only lost $800 from the motor home rental.

C. Fire Library:

Still need to purchase the "Car Buster" series. Kudos to M. Urquides for doing a great job with the library update.

D. Programs:

Inquiries on doing Strike Team Ldr/ DIVG, Safety Off. and Ops SC 403 classes this winter. There seems to be a need countywide. P. Matteson will research and report with possibilities on all.

    1. Haz Mat:
    2. Contact C. Trenner at Pebble Beach Fire 375-4204 for Haz Mat class needs.

    3. High-Rise:

S. Roth is still inquiring with Chiefs Gillis and Defeo, LAFD, about holding a seminar here.

G. EMS:

P. Matteson raised issue of new helicopter response policy. There are concerns of no helicopter being dispatched to the "Rural response zone" until first responders arrive at scene and request such. Matteson will inquire with Chief Mazza and possibly have the language in policy clarified.

    1. Training and Standards:
    2. Fireground Safety System, needs clarification in language of policy. Committee is to meet and decide what direction to go with the helmet ID tags; eng ID on both sides vs. eng ID and three letter ID on either side. Also, 2 in-2 out vs. RIC policy.

      High Rise movement drill set for December in Monterey.

    5. Charity Fundraiser / Golf Tournament:

Tournament aiming for Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Rancho Canada Golf Course. Committee will meet to start on details. Membership participation is needed and will be heavily depended on. Need suggestions for recipient.

  4. After much discussion and agreement, J. Trenner made a motion to abolish night meeting due to lack of attendance and switch to having 11 regular meetings and one lunch meeting in December at Monterey Fire Department. D. Gearhart seconded motion. All approved. Website will be updated to reflect such.

  5. Good of the Order:
  6. JPA Burn Trailer has been ordered, no date of delivery yet.
