MEETING MINUTES OF August 8, 2002
CDF Headquarters – ECC Expanded Room

Meeting called to order at 10:45 by Vice –President Roth

  4. No report, P. Fry is on vacation.

  5. Correspondence/Announcements:
  6. Air Ambulance Policy is out. Call Jodie Schaffer at CHOMP to set up an appointment for .MAP Trauma Triage training. The class is @ 1 ½ hours long. Her work phone # is 625-4515 ext. 1978, pager 641-6554 and e-mail is jodi.schaffer@chomp.org She is also available to do a train-the-trainer.

C. Fire Library:

M. Urquides has done a great job of "cleaning" up the fire library after years of accumulation. He made a motion to purchase several IFSTA video series no to exceed $2,000.00. T. Johnson second. Motion passed. The series include: "Collapse of Burning Buildings", "Pumping Apparatus", "Car buster", Action training video-"Incidents involving Fuel Tank Trucks" & Hazmat Awareness".

D. Programs:

S. Roth proposed a three-part motion.

    1. On Oct. 2, The MCFTO’s host a RIC Train-the-Trainer class for a fee of $75.
    2. Host the basic RIC class scheduled for 3-6 October 2002.
    3. *The 3rd & 4th to be held in Salinas at Station #3
      *The 5th & 6th to be held in Pacific Grove and Monterey at Station #3

    4. Host an advanced RIC class focusing more on the team dynamics of RIC on Nov. 2-3, 2002.

    2. MPC Fire Academy has extra spots for First Responder Operational. Contact Natalie Rodda for more information @ MPC 646-4240.

G. EMS:

                    MAP training with Jodi Schaffer…see above.

    1. Training and Standards:
    2. The building in Salinas on Natividad is not ready yet. A. Dunnings will keep us informed of status. The movement drill is tentatively set for December at the Northridge Mall for a Sunday evening after closing.

Received a Thank you note from Natalie Rodda for the flowers sent during rough times.

    1. Trenner advised that Cypress Fire Protection District has a contract with the owners of the Crossroads Cinema to use it for training until the fate of the building is determined. That may possibly be in February 2003. RIC props have been built inside the theatre and can be available to use. Contact C. Trenner for more information.

S. Roth expressed concern on the lack of attendance in the association. Encouraged each department to bring interested personnel to meetings and become members. Need more participation and involvement.
