Mike Vindhurst and Steve Negro gave a modified ICS class to 150 AMR employees to bring them up to speed on the ICS structure and how to interact with fire agencies.

    1. Wildland:

The school is a definite go. The numbers are "huge". Two new branches have been added to the school to let two of the other areas rest for a year. Carson helicopter has offered their services if C-406 leaves on fires. Lou Bollinger has offered to shoot video and photos at the school. Motion was made by S. Roth to allocate money for rights to a Fire School video to be made. Motion seconded by M. Vindhurst. Motion passed.

There was discussion of concern about paying for services that we could fill with our own staff and improving training. Many expressed interest in performing functions and roles that are being hired out. For next year’s school, there will be further evaluation on the specific training areas and how we can fill certain positions in-house.

Next site visit for Command Staff to Ft. Hunter Liggett will be June 10, 2002.

C. Fire Library:

M. Urquides is purging the slides; they are outdated and have not been checked out in years. He urged members to have personnel return videos on time or request an extension if not through with them. There was interest among members in buying the updated IFSTA Essentials series and another Fire Studio Simulator program. S. Roth expressed concern of private agencies not being charged Fire Library dues while using the resources. M. Schuler looked in the bylaws and found it stated that even the non-fire agencies will be charged. Invoices will be sent out.

  1. Old Business:
  2. Reminder: May 30, 2002 is next Movement Drill at Hays Park in former Ft. Ord @ 1300 hrs. Crews are reminded to be in full safety gear appropriate for that emergency response. Lemos will be e-mailing announcement of drill to all county chiefs.

  5. Good of the Order:
  6. P. Matteson suggested bringing in an individual from Marin Co. Fire to do a presentation on the "70 Fire" at the Fire School during evening down time. The presentation is about an hour long and very informative on firefighter safety. He will be looking into the possibility of that.

The IC Chief Glass was gracious enough to donate 5 acres of the old Branch 4 of the fire school to CDF to do an S-215 Firing Methods and Equipment class for CDF JAC Engineers and up to 10 local gov’t. spots. This will be the 4-hr firing part of an 8-hr class.
