MEETING MINUTES OF May 8, 2003

Meeting called to order at 1038 hrs.

  1. Approval of Minutes:
  2. Motion by H. Kelley, Second by T. Johnson, motion passed.

  3. Treasury Report:

    Motion to approve Treasurers report by D. Brown, Second by N. Rodda.

  5. Correspondence/Announcements:
  6. Natalie advised the group that the Academy would be moving from Asilomar to MPC. She also stated that there are some parking issues, but she is confident they will be resolved. Natalie also informed the group that she is currently hunting for package deals for hotels in the area for those who need a place to stay.

    Natalie stated that the current balance after classes is $12,160. Natalie stated that money could be used for other programs if Wildland School is cancelled.

  7. Committee Reports:
    1. ICS:

It was stated that a needs assessment should be put out before we confirm a class such as OPS, Safety, etc.

    1. Wildland:

J. Trenner stated that Wildland School numbers are up and as of 5-8-03 Wildland School should go. Chief Scruten indicated that he believes it should cure in time for the school.

After a lengthy discussion with regards to Wildland School, D. Brown made a motion to set May 19th as a deadline from the Wildland IC to know if school is a go or no go. Deano second the motion. Motion passed.

A suggestion to postpone the school for one month was also made. J. Trenner stated that he would also relay that message to the IC.

C. Fire Library:

                   Stew's new videos are in the library.

D. Programs:

                    Specifics needed for Natalies budget. Need to do a needs assessment.

E. EMS:

BLS protocols will be hitting the field in July.

                    AED updated Aug. - Oct.

HIPPA regs: only affect transporting agencies. Don not give out medical information to press, etc. per California confidentiality laws.

    2. Fireground Safety Systems will be going out in a couple of weeks.

J. Charity Golf Tournament:

  5. Good of the Order:
  6. M. Schuler requested reimbursement for embroidered T.O's logo shirts at a cost of $205.00

    Trenner made the motion, Natalie second the motion, Motion passed.

    There was discussion with regards to who can get this logo. Direction was given to Schuler to inform the vendor to restrict sales to members, etc.

    J. Trenner requested that training manual updates should be given to him to take back to IFSTA.
