MEETING MINUTES OF January 9, 2003

 

Meeting called to order at 1046 hrs. by President Roth

  1. Approval of Minutes:
  2. Motion for approval December 12, 2002 minutes by D. Brown. Second by H. Kelley. Motion passed.

  3. Treasury Report:
  4. Beginning balance- $23,205.73

    Inflows- 7,248.00

    Outflows- -285.00

    Current balance of- $30,168.00

    Motion to approve by D. Brown, Second by H. Kelley, motion passed.

  5. Correspondence/Announcements:
  6. David Brown reminded everyone about the Chiefs Installment and awards dinner to be held on January 11, 2003. And stated that RSVP's need to be made with Leslie.

    Al Dunnings reported that Salinas Fires next Academy will run from February 3, through April 25, 2003, and that Salinas Fire has hired 12 Firefighters.

  7. Committee Reports:
    1. ICS:

ICS 300/400 will be run in February through MPC.

Possible Division Group Supervisor in either March or April, 2003. More to follow.

M. Urquidez stated that in order for Departments to be reimbursed from OES, Trainees need to have their task books authorized by the Fire Chief or his/her designee.

    1. Wildland:
    2. Wildland Committee will be meeting on January 16, 2003. We should have the budget at February's meeting.

    3. Fire Library:
    4. M. Urquidez provided a copy of the current Rules and Regulations for the Fire Library that were written in 1998. Urquidez, questioned if the cost of the membership had changed to $200.00 per year for all departments. Dave Brown confirmed the cost of the Fire Library to be $100.00 for Volunteer Organizations, and $200.00 for departments with paid personnel. Jesse Casillas will forward the information to the South County Fire Chiefs.

      Dave asked about a 60 / 40 split in proceeds, and if 60% was being put towards new equipment for the Library. Urquidez indicated that he would do some research and advise the group.

      The group discussed placing the Fire Library information on the web site. Further research will take place; more to follow.

    5. Programs:

S. Roth recommended that the group think of about 4 or 5 programs to support MPC and forward them to Catey or himself. S. Roth, C. Trenner, and J. Casillas will be meeting to discuss further.

S. Roth reported that we still have an open shot for Brunacini and he is trying to tie it into the golf tournament.

Dave Brown stated that we have 2 dates for the Paul Stein Program. October 3 and 4, or October 10 and 11, 2003.

Al Dunnings indicated that he has a connection with Household Credit that may be a possible location for the training.

    3. High-Rise:
    4. Dave thanked Stew for his part with the recent high rise drill in Monterey .

    5. EMS:

Salinas Rural stated that they will be going to the Combi-tube, and North County indicated they might possibly be going with it as well.

    1. Training and Standards:
    2. Dave reminded the group of Fire Safety Systems that Ops asked we review, make changes and return. Dave discussed the changes that were made involving IRIC, and 10-minute notifications.

J. Charity Golf Tournament:

The Committee meets on January 28, 2003 @1000 hrs. at Mid Valley.

Tournament to be held April 24, 2003.

  4. Stew indicated that He, Catey and Jesse will be meeting within the next few months to form a plan for the year.

  5. Good of the Order:
  6. J. Casillas advised the group that Soledad Fire will be hosting a "Commanding the Initial Response" Training on February 1 and 2, 2003. Anyone interested should contact the Soledad Fire to register.
